Inmarsat's BGAN service is the world's first simultaneous voice and broadband data mobile satellite communications service.

Delivered via a highly portable, easy to use device, it is also the first mobile service to offer guaranteed data rates on demand.  These innovations enable BGAN to extend the boundaries of the broadband mobile office that 3G cellular services are only starting to deliver.

The BGAN network enables users to connect via their laptop to their corporate network at speeds up to half a megabit per second.  You can remotely access all your desktop applications including e-mail and the Internet via a secure virtual private network (VPN) connection.  You can also make telephone calls at the same time.

The service is currently available across Western Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, North and South America. The BGAN network provides seamless broadband coverage across most of the world's landmass.

The Pacific Ocean Region (POR) including Eastern Australia will be commercially available around February 2009.
